Since the holiday season is very much upon us, we here at b5 are working together to provide you with a full menu for Christmas dinner. The menu itself is provided by Tracey at foodie obssessed, and Farley from Behind the Vines will match it with wines. Needless to say, I’ll be matching it with [...]

Earlier I alluded to our decorating style, and the convergence of that style (such as it is) with beer. Well, Christmas around here is a very beery holiday, and one of my favorite items is the beer coaster Christmas ornament.
A few years back, my then-girlfriend (and now wife) and I found ourselves short on cash [...]

To put you in the Christmas spirit, here’s a nifty Christmas tree. If you’re still looking to put something under it, The Friar of Hopfen and Malz fame recommends Global Beer for beer-related gifts. Another thought is to simply stop by your favorite local brewery or brewpub and shop the store there. Saves on postage [...]

Apparently I’m not the only one hoping to promote a healthy understanding of beer with my kids, as the good friar deomonstrates in this week’s Hopfen und Malz
Last week I continued my inter-generational quest to share my love of beer with my kids. In the course of visiting old friends we found ourselves in [...]

Remember those advent calendars you got as a kid (and which I have yet to buy for my kids this year, bad parent that I am)? The ones with twenty-four little doors, each of which hid a small toy or (more frequently) a piece of chocolate?
Well, the beer lover’s version is trying a new beer [...]
