Getting the bottle open
I have many bottle openers, from a host of old openers touting the beers of Philadelphia breweries which no longer exist and a few I’ve picked up on my travels to a somewhat tacky and misogynist opener in the form of a stockinged woman’s leg (it was a gift). One of my favorites is the Frog King, a German-made opener in the shape of frog with a crown. The Germans seem obsessed with this sort of quirky home product - I also have a floss dispenser in the shape of a little blob of a man holding the floss in one hand and a cutter in the other. But I digress.
My workhorse bottle opener, and, quite frankly, the only opener I ever use, is a wall-mounted model much like the one pictured below. It’s secure, stable, and impossible to lose. If you don’t have one you need one. That, and it’s both a wonderful and wonderfully inexpensive present! You can even get these with the logo of your favorite college or university (Hmm, I know some Penn Staters who might like that).
Note - I cribbed this image from here, but I can’t vouch for the site one way or the other. If you can let me know.
