Ho Ho Ho for the po po po
Earlier I alluded to our decorating style, and the convergence of that style (such as it is) with beer. Well, Christmas around here is a very beery holiday, and one of my favorite items is the beer coaster Christmas ornament.
A few years back, my then-girlfriend (and now wife) and I found ourselves short on cash and long on beer coasters. I’d always loved beer coasters, but once I saved them I never knew quite what to do with them. In a burst of inspiration, we punched holes in them, tied ribbons at the top, stuck a hook through the whole mess and made decorations. Voilá - cheap and colorful Christmas ornaments, and our own version of the beery Christmas tree.
Not to stop there, we also put hooks on old wine bottle corks, and my wife even glued them on to beer bottle caps as well, although those were a pain in the tail to hang. The end result? A very colorful and festive tree which said a lot about us, good or bad.
