Nature vs. beer
For those who don’t know it, the southeastern US has been suffering from a pretty bad drought this year. That, however, is nothing compared to the drought which has had Australia in its clutches for a number of years now. Brewers, in turn, have had to find ways to deal with it. One thing they’ve sucessfully done is reduce the amount of water used in the brewing process quite significant.
That said, this year’s drought has apparently destroyed much of the barley crop as well, meaning that brewers have had to search for alternate suppliers. As a result, beer prices are expected to increase by 10-20 cents per glass.
