According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, rush hour traffic on I-95 was blocked by an overturned tractor trailer this morning.
The tractor trailer was apparently hauling beer - no word yet on what kind of beer.
Now, if only a tractor trailer carrying pretzels would stop…

On Saturday night, the weather was lovely. Chris and I were out on our own, the kiddos tucked into bed at home under the careful eye of Super Nanny (our version). It was rare that we had this sort of freedom to go anywhere we wanted, without timing and food restraints, so we […]

The neighborhood was dark, except for the neon glow of the lone beer sign in the window of the bar, touting the glories of Yuengling beer. across from the bar there was a small, modern strip mall, looking so bright as to be almost garish in the darkness of the surrounding houses and factory buildings […]

Not surprisingly, Washington tended towards porters, most of which he ordered from Robert Hare, a brewer […]

Last weekend I managed to finally make it to the new incarnation of the Dock Street brewpub, which is pretty pathetic considering I had planned to go when they first opened. For those who don’t know, Dock Street was a Philadelphia-based pioneer of micro-brewed beers back in the 80s, at one point vying with Sam […]

It’s the first day of the new year, and Yard’s brewery no longer has a home. Since the photo above shows the status of the brewery as of November 2007, I’m not exactly sure what that means for the future of the brew. For the sake of beer drinkers here in Philadelphia, I hope the […]
